1. Who We Are

Medical Marijuana ProCon (formerly known as MarijuanaInfo.org), is a research project of ProCon.org, a 501(c)(3) pending non-profit, non-partisan private foundation, without government affiliation of any kind.

Medical Marijuana ProCon.org was launched in April 2001 as "MarijuanaInfo.org," and began transfer of data to the MedicalMarijuanaProCon website in April, 2003.

ProCon.org believes most people care about their community, their state and their country, and have common sense and good judgment. We also believe individuals can better exercise their good judgment if the large volume of data and rhetoric on a particular issue is reduced to a carefully crafted pro-con presentation.

2. Goal

Medical Marijuana ProCon.org's goal for this project is to publish the best available pro and con responses to the question: "Should marijuana be a medical option?"

3. The Mission Statement

Promoting informed citizenship by presenting controversial issues in a simple, non-partisan pro-con format.

4. Staffing:

Steve Markoff is the Editor. The Managing Editor is Kamy Akhavan, and the site's Senior Researcher is Jeff Yablan .

5. Funding

This site, through April 30, 2002, has been funded by Steve Markoff as an individual and through a corporation he controls. Costs for the site through 4/30/02 approximate $100,000, inclusive of web design (by Jo-D Harrison), staff (Heather Nobles, Lisa Sutherland and Jeff Yablan), and Mr. Markoff's time.

On May 1, 2002, the site was taken over by ProCon.org, a non-profit 501(c)(3)established by Mr. Markoff.

6. Information Sources

Medical Marijuana ProCon.org's responses and facts originate from numerous sources, showing how individuals and organizations respond to the various parts of the medical marijuana debate.

These sources include, but are not limited to, peer-reviewed articles, books, news reports, magazines, government reports, research data, websites, and responses directly from the listed sources.
